  • These must be Christmas novels, books about Christmas lore, a book of Christmas short stories or poems, books about Christmas crafts, and for the first time...a children's Christmas books level!

--Fa La La La Films:  watch a bunch or a few Christmas movies...it's up to you!
--Visions of Sugar Plums:  read books with your children this season and share what you read
*the additional levels are optional, you still must complete one of the main reading levels above

  • the most important rule?  Have fun!!!
  • I will have a review linky posted as a page the day the challenge starts.  You will find it at the top of the left sidebar.
  • Sign up in the linky below (link to your post with your reading list...you can change up your list during the challenge...I just want to be able to stop by to welcome you and see what you plan to read).
One final note:  I am going to do a giveaway of a mystery box of Christmas books to participants in the U.S. (At the moment, I'm not sure on an International prize because of finances, but if I find that I can afford it, I will pick an International winner and they can choose a Christmas book (under $10 or three bargain books for $10, if they're running the promo at the time) from Better World Books.  Giveaway will end at the end of the challenge.

I hope you will join me!

    1. Thanks for signing up, Erica. Some books I like are any by Richard Paul Evans. A Christmas Carol by Dickens, of course. Christmas Jars by Jason F. Wright, The Reindeer Keeper by Barbara Briggs Ward, The Mischief of the Mistletoe by Lauren Willig, An Irish Country Christmas by Patrick Taylor, The Quiet Little Woman by Louisa May Alcott. A couple old faves from my childhood that I reread in recent years...The House Without a Christmas Tree and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.

      Hope it helps!

  18. Hi, Michelle!!

Well, I've already signed up! I've been looking forward to this all year long!!!! YAY!!! Thank you SO much for hosting this beautiful, joyful event every year!!

This time around, I will again be attempting the Mistletoe Level. Maybe I'll be able to upgrade to the Christmas Tree Level, but I'm not sure yet.... Also, I will be watching "It's A Wonderful Life" yet again, since I NEVER get tired of that movie!! (I used to have a crush on Jimmy Stewart, back when I was 12!) I will also be watching "The Family Man", which, as you know, is based on the older film. There's also a fantastic TV movie I love, with Tony Danza in the lead. When I remember the name, I'll post it here. So I'm also doing the Fa, La, La, La level this year.

Hope you had a GREAT Thanksgiving, and MERRY CHRISTMAS already!!!! : )

P.S. New Year's resolution & note to self: Visit "The Christmas Spirit" blog often throughout the year from now on, for an automatic raising of any stress-induced bad moods. YESSSS!!!

  19. Great idea for a reading challenge! I've already watched three movies this week {I can't believe two of them were BEOFRE Thanksgiving!} and I'm going to quit blogging straight away tonight to go start my first book. :-)

Definitely more Christmas movies to come too- "It's a Wonderful Life" {an absolute MUST on Christmas Eve} and one of my other favourites, "Love Actually".

  22. I just stumbled across this challenge and I'm late to he party, but I'm here. I plan to read at least 2 books, watch a pile of movies and read a pile of books to my kids. This should be fun! Thanks for hosting such a fun challenge!

  23. PS. I am doing the "Christmas Tree" and Fa La La La La!
In my original comment, I forgot to list the level I am doing! I've already read 2 Christmas books, and am on my 3rd!
I have been watching Hallmark Movie Channel AND GMC and BOTH have had Christmas movies on since November 12th! I hope we don't have to list ALL of the movies because there are just toooo many!!! EVERY Saturday and Sunday nights on the Hallmark Channel, they have NEW movies out just for 2012! They made 12 NEW ones! YEAH!!! They did this last year, and I can't remember if in the past they did this or not? IF they did, it was NOT for 'this long'! I LOVE it! I don't watch ANYTHING else, except for Monday and Thursday nights! I MUST see Bones and Criminal Minds! Although, they DO have Christmas shows right before Christmas!
I saw in another comment you LOVE the book, "The House Without A Chrristmas Tree"!! I LOVE that book the MOST out of ALL other books! Why? I got that book when I was in Grade School! It was in the 2nd grad, and I LOVED that book! They eventually made a movie out of it, too! I have NEVER seen it on TV since then, either! That book has stuck with me ALL these years!
Thanks again for doing this, and having an ENTIRE BLOG dedicated TO Christmas books! You are an amazing person to do this!
    Thank you!

  27. Oops, I forgot to comment when I signed up, but better late than never, right? :-)

I've just started reading my 2nd Christmas Book and I'm going for the Mistletoe and Fa La La La.

Happy reading to all of you!

  28. Sounds fun! I am thinking I will participate in the Fa La La catagory, as watching some fun Christmas movies with my girls is already on my list of things to do!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hmmm....I am a little confused or lost at the moment. Is there anywhere on your blog that we are suppose to leave links to our posts that are relevant or a part of this challenge? Or are we meant to just go ahead and post them, and check in with the others blogs in the list above to see what they've posted? We are having a Christmas movie day today with my girls...and thought it'd be a good time to get started with this challenge! :0)
